A Heavy-Duty Stainless Steel Cleaner.
Superficial rust, oil, grease, and lime deposits can occasionally manifest on stainless steel surfaces. Avesta Cleaner 401 swiftly eliminates these imperfections, restoring the surface and reinstating the stainless steel to its original lustrous appearance, texture, and finish.
Standard applications
Avesta Cleaner 401 serves a wide spectrum of industrial cleaning needs, delivering effective general cleaning results on stainless steel surfaces:
Features
Provides a dual cleaning effect:
- For pre-cleaning to eliminate organic contaminants, oil, and grease before pickling. This is crucial as pickling acids often struggle to remove them and they hinder the pickling process.
- For maintenance cleaning to revitalize and brighten stainless steel surfaces that have been tainted during fabrication or usage. It effectively removes staining caused by sea water, “tea-staining,” rainwater, “water scale,” and road salt. In cases of more severe surface rust, pickling may be necessary. A subsequent passivation step using Avesta FinishOne Passivator 630 after using Cleaner 401 further enhances the results and extends the time until the next treatment, based on practical experiences, by up to three times.
Packaging
Avesta Cleaner 401 is available in 20kg polyethylene containers or 1100kg IBC polyethylene containers. Package sizes may vary by market, and all packaging materials comply with UN regulations for hazardous goods.
Storage
For proper storage, maintain Avesta Cleaner 401 indoors at room temperature. Containers should be securely closed, positioned upright, and kept inaccessible to unauthorized individuals. This product has a limited shelf life and should not be stored longer than necessary. If the product decomposes during storage, it should be stirred before use. Its maximum shelf life is two years when stored at room temperature. Avoid exposure to higher temperatures (>35°C) to prevent damage and reduce the shelf life.
Passivation
To further enhance the results, we recommend applying passivation after pickling using Avesta FinishOne Passivator 630, which offers a safer, acid-free passivation method.
Waste treatment
The wastewater generated during the pickling process contains acidic residues and requires treatment with either Avesta Neutraliser 502 or slaked lime to attain a safe pH level between 7 and 10 before disposal. Heavy metals originating from stainless steel will settle as sludge, and this sludge should be properly disposed of in compliance with local regulations. Additionally, empty containers made of HDPE should undergo thorough cleaning and adhere to local regulations for recycling.
